Need Help..cant get this SW off!

Something called "Virusprotectpro" just installed itself om my pc and I cant get it to go away. Even after unistall. Its hanging out on my taskbar and resembles the microsoft Windows security icon. it keeps blinking blue to red and occassionaly pops up a bubble with a security warning. When I tries to close it it opens up a webpage to get me to buy it. Now its taken over my IE as the homepage. It just popped up again while typing this. Its wearing my nerves thin. I looked in msconfig..etc and cant seem to find it. I'm trying to keep from doing another reformat of my HD. I cannot disable it in any way.
It keeps making itself my homepage even after I change it. What the heck is this thing and how do I get it off? It mimicks securty update icon. Its right next to it. I cant right click on it to disable it because a webpage comes up. dam dam dam!!!

I repaired it.
Its a rogue virus protection SW. You may be aware of it.
Its a pain. Smitfraudfix got it out.

not a chance.
I just did that a week ago just for the hell of it. It really needed it though.
The reformat is no big deal, its just reloading and re-updating everything. sheesh.
Anyways, I got the stubborn culprit out.
