View Full Version : unfinished business
Okay, so i finally painted the top of my PC case and i am going to be finishing the rebuild soon. i am about 80% sure i am going to be picking up the Asus P5N32-SLI MOBO tomorrow as well. (any input on the board?)
i had another radiator sitting here and with a case this big i just HAVE to use it. i figured i could add the second rad. into my GPU loop, my only concern is if that will kill my pump or what?
i have the older swiftech MCP350. i know my new MCP355 could handle it no problem i am just not too sure about the 350. the last thing i want to do is rebuild this monster again just to tear it all down. 2 water loops in a case is a B!&@^ to work with.
pics very soon, but i think i will just add them onto the original post.

Yeah haha that's what I was waiting for too.
i fricking KNEW it, you basterds lol
i was totally stairing at the case thinkin "i bet if i put 1 crappy cell phone pic on here i will get posts" then i took the pic just never posted it. i leave outta town tomorrow, but i will post pics tonight
i ended up going thru a NIGHTMARE at the tigerdirect store so i am returning my mobo and ended up getting http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131182.
i was thinkin about the open box version becuase im gonna take all the cooling off of it anyways, i just didnt want to dik with that gamble.
AND YES I CAN ADD ANOTHER RAD. TO MY GPU LINE W/O HURTING MY PUMP
(no thanks to you PCstats bastages ;) )
i
Haha... you know the saying "a picture is worth 1000 words?" Might apply here too... "A pic is worth 1000 posts... no pic, no posts!" :p

TOUCHE!! (good 1 crax lol)
This is a shot of where i am mounting the 2 rad for my cooling loop. The other GPU rad. will be right above it so all should work out quite well. Now it is like low 60's here and i cant WAIT to get everything back together and OCing.

This is the new top and it turned out much different then i expected but i still really like it alot. my buddy and i were joking saying it looks like the figure of a rasta guy w dreads n all. :thumb:

when i was transporting my case i put a bottle of coolant in the case and somehow it got punctured a bit and yea, blood red fluid surprise lol
it was funny becaused it looked like the case and i were bleeding w/ all the red shizzle everywhere.
i cant fricking wait till all my parts get here next week. I think i am gonna order 2 fill ports also. I am having a B!^C& of a time finding screws that go through a fan to hold it to a radiator though. any suggestions on that front?
lastly, anyknow know how much 2GB of Mushkin ddr2 800, 680i SLI mobo and a zalman 9700 fan would go for if i were selling it?
hope the fickle crowd enjoys the pics lol and TY for the posts ya bastads :teeth:
ok so back in action here, sorry pics were taken with my phone.

That's pretty sweet. Now to talk about lights... how far out are you going to go? To the extreme?! Good man, that's what I like to hear.

Wow...everything is looking awsome. I like how you seperated the two seperate loops with different color coolant. Can't wait to see the finished product. With such a cooling system, I expect higher overclocks as well! :p

thanks man
i have already been working on a sweet a$$ lighting idea, but to be honest i am just not a big 'case light' fan. kind of make things look a little clowny if it isnt done right. Anyone know where i can get some stripped down fiber?

and thank you too
i think i already found the overall wall for my GPU from before, but i will keep trying on that. As for my CPU/MOBO that is a whole new ball game now.
what my next concern is is all my data on the drive from my build before my mobo crapped. i have alot of stuff on there i need off and i know the drive is totally fine. so i am sure that will be like splitting hairs :sniper:
more pics to come tonight

Not only high but silent cooling system! The biggest advantage to watercooling is with added radiator you could make the fan spun slower and produce less noise!

Very nice man, more pics (goes without saying really :p)

good point, after i FINALLY got it up and running i was sitting next to it thinking that. actually can prob. take the fan off the upper GPU rad. and since heat rises it will naturally just prob go right up and out.

these pics are kind of crappy last minute so sorry about that....
and no...... not even close :dev:
this is my awsome grinding shield i made. i cut a hole in the mobo tray to route some cables thru, but it was too small so i had to bore it out.

last night was once again a long one. thought all i was gonna have to do was a little cable managment, yea prob not. in the end i just slammed everything in there because i just wanted to get it booted up cuase i KNEW i was going to have plenty to deal with on the software side SO..
This Asus bios is totally foregin to me and im am still quite unsure about stuff in there. most importantly my CPU temp was like 28C idle 34C load last night and my GPU was 45C idle and didnt record it load. in a nut shell my temps are better then i had expected. i also failed to mention that i am now using PC8500 ram so i am hoping that will help my OCing as well.
I ran into quite a few hickups after i got windows installed. it takes windows F O R E V E R to load and i really mean forever. normally after a fresh install it takes like 3 seconds, now its like 5 mins lol
i am thinkin maybe my HD is getting older but i was JUST using it and it was working great on my X2 throwback system so i just dont get it. i had a previous XP install on there but i formatted it off and made a decent little partition for my new install. i mean it could have maybe been my chipset drivers or something. i did install them when i was downloading some windows updates and reset my machine while they were still downloading and then when it booted back up i got some error when windows was loading and said it had to remove something [0000000x0003] or something like that. then after another reboot (dont remember if these events were back to back) but it went into scandisk and finished that pretty quickly acutally then i just loaded the last settings that worked and havent rebooted since. i ran a hand full of benches and everything was ok so.....
i have been thinkin about just going out and buying a raptor but this rebuild is costing more then i would like and i already have 4 other SATA drives (2 of which i need to get all the data off of before i use and the other just doesnt get read by any MOBO for some reason)
more to come later

A slow windows load is typically a driver issue. I'd reinstall Windows again to see if that corrects it.
sigh, i guess i will do that first thing when i get home. i just dont think a raptor drive is worth the 200$ and they STILL havent come down in price which i think is totally silly.

You could get two of WD, Seagate or Hitachi HDD (250/320GB is the sweet spot) and put them in RAID-0 arrays. It would hold up nicely against the faster WD Raptor............ see the PCstats HDTach Standing (http://forum.pcstats.com/showthread.php?t=40370) and you could see the pattern there. Note that the WD Raptor had lightning fast access time - apart from that the RAID'ed drives blowed WD Raptor away.
Plus i could see in your sig you already have two identical SATA drives, and another two SATA hdd? You could probably raid' em :D
And those two drives would still be cheaper than WD Raptor 74GB........... if you look at it, raptor had ridiculous price/performance ratio. But well, you gotta pay more to get the best ;)
wow ok my post got totally deleted, r u kidding me?
ok well i am too tierd to repost something 'P.C.' so i will tomorrow sometime

i made a post the other day on another thread and it was deleted as well
I dont think the post was deleted on purpose.......... maybe there's bug in the server?
If you dont use profane language, promote piracy or spamming then there's no reason to delete your post........
So what say the administrator? Any official word on this issue?

Think its to do with the board breaking the other day
PM's and email notification died the other day, again, bah!
ok now im really pissed off, i posted YET AGAIN (THRID TIME PPL) and it is gone YET AGAIN. what the F is the point of spending 20mins telling ppl about your progress when it just gets deleted over and over.
im telling ya, PCSTATS is getting worse and worse and i am def leavin if this crap keeps up
o yea, and my sig. still hasent changed from redoing it last night and u would know that if this Aldi tech page wouldnt just remove posts

I know nothing about posts disappearing. I'm the most active admin and I haven't deleted anything. If I delete a post for some reason I typically PM that user and let them know why it was edited/deleted. I have not had an instance where any of my posts were deleted.
today alone i have had 2 different posts deleted AND my siggy didnt update. it really pisses me off when i sit here spend 20mins to type out my findings and issues on here just to come back to them being gone. i dont even want to log on anymore because now it isnt a help page it is just a waste of time.
pretty much ruins a ongoing thread

I wish the forum admin was an active user on here, or at least post when there's server issues.
Anyways, your case is looking pretty nice :)

I thought you mean a thread....
ok so this is uber sweet my CPU is at 21C idle and MB is 149C AHAHAH
and my bios -147C in the BIOS all this happened right after i installed steam and i mean like RIGHT after.
so now asus probe is red and i dont know what to do. i shot my mobo with the temp gun and it is fricking freezing in my case right now. is it maybe that its so cold in here its throwing stuff way off?

On my server, (AM2-NF3 VSTA) the mobo says the proc is 125C, and the chipset is 124C
I suspect your temp sensors are bugged, or the bios is messed up
Try using another monitoring program (i used KSensors in an ubuntu livecd)

it HAS to be STEAM then, i mean i got this RIGHT after i installed the program and it updated. what i dont get is how it jacked up my BIOS reading now
-145C and +145 still makes me worry a bit. lol
3Ghz
Multi. = x9
Bus. = 333
FSB = 1335.8
1.35V
Memory is @ 500Mhz 2:3
GPU = (660/840) highest i have been able to get it :thumb:
the last 3Dmark 05 run i got 17,643
CPU Load = 34C
Mobo Load before craziness = 34C
I tried 6x multi. w/ a 533 Bus and my pc crashed so that didnt go so well. Should i just stick with my 9x multiplier and keep upping the Bus? I think i should have at LEAST another 300mhz to go and with my almost freezing temps i should be able to really OC this thing. like i said this BIOS is like totally confusing
HELP

I don't see how steam can alter the bios in any way .... i also doubt its 145C - because you wouldn't have a processor anymore at that rate
How about everest? Have you tried that? It always give accurate reading ;)
How about using lower multiplier for your RAM? I think the motherboard could push up to >1700mhz FSB (quad pumped) without problem.

well last night i was able to get to 3.3 (367x9) i think (dont really remember my settings from last night). with how low my temps are i would REALLY like to try n hit 3.6-3.8Ghz i would LOVE the 4ghz mark but we have to crawl before we walk SO...
Can someone tell me if i need that vanderpool technology enabled or if i need the CPU spread spectrum enabled and for that matter if i need the exicution bit enabled.
thanks

No, no, and yes?
No idea what vanderpool is. I've never used CPU spread spectrum. Execution bit I believe I leave alone.
ok thanks
im at 3.4G
x9
Bus=380mhz
FSB = 1520mhz
i am really hoping to finalize the wiring tonight and then find this beasts max OC limits.

You better get at least 3.6GHz as that's what I can get on air ;)
Though I'd like to go water at some point...

yea well i just tried the 400mhz mark and windows wouldnt boot SO....although i just upped my NB voltage so im gonna see if that helps. Right now i am at 390 and it seems ok. man, i better be able to hit 4ghz with these temps lol
my newest problem is that my speakers are sending out sound all wrong. my front right is coming outta the rear right, the center isnt working, i dont know what the hell is going on.
i just checked how i have all the cables plugged in and i did notice that i had 2 of them switched but even after switching them the sound still comes out of the wrong speakers. i JUST installed my SB Xfi so the drivers should be ok, i didnt encounter any problems during install

Maybe try removing the X-Fi drivers, running Guru3D's driver sweeper thing, and then install the drivers.

i downloaded the update from windows that hosed my X-Fi drivers on my last build and they actually FIXED my problem this time. i dont know what the hell the deal was........
Ok so my only prob now (i say that loosely) is i CANNOT get my CPU to OC that high at all.
when im using the 9x mulit i cannot get past 380mhz (3.4Ghz)
when im using the 7x multi i cannot get past 490mhz (~3.4Ghz) *i think i do not fully remember from last night*
i have upped my NB V to the max and i have the CPU @ 1.45v
my mem is @ 2.1v so i think that is ok too
i have treid all kinds of combos and stuff and i just cannot seem to get past this 3.4Ghz mark. I am gonna be pretty effin sad if this is all i can get outta it since i have read/am reading TONS of articles where ppl are getting plenty past 500Mhz FSB :curse:
any help would be greatly appreciated
*edit* so i tried and tried and i cannot get past 390Mhz w/9x multi. sigh

I said it in another thread which you replied to, so I just thought you'd remember...
nope sorry.
so this is gay, i have tried all combos of settings and i couldnt get past 400mhz with the 1.5v. guess im stuck :(
