I know avid posted this somewhere and I searched but I couldnt find his original thread on the release of the new X38 boards. I know some are already out but when is the DFI one coming out? :D

Well, I have been waiting as well, and here is the first good news I have heard in a while. It looks like this particular board will ship this coming Monday (Get your orders in NOW!!!). However, if you're looking at the UT version, you'll have to wait longer. I have spoken with Mike and he says that he'll know more after the first of next week when the UT versions will be here in more quantity. He explained that the main differences are that the LT has individual cooling solutions on the NB and SB as well as the PWM, while the UT will have some sort of exotic heat-pipe cooling for everything.
Notice on the LT board that there is a NorthBridge cooler similar to Thermalright's HR-05 ... :)

DFI LanParty LT X38-T2R. This is the final! I took these pics off the MotherboardPro.com site, so sorry for the graininess ... :(
Hold on to your hats when you see how much these puppies are going to cost!!

From some inside sources, these boards should really do well (Overclocking with the new upcoming Yorkfield cores). The main thing about them is that they support DDR2 right now, and as for a revision in the near future for DDR3, well that remains to be seen, (though the inside source says that could be rectified with a BIOS update, possibly). The new X48 chipset board will support DDR3 only!
I am looking into the Intel DX38BT (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3444881&CatId=3488) motherboardhttp://img513.imageshack.us/img513/3739/i692162e1b0d915nw6.jpg as a cheaper step up to DDR3, though the DFI board does look promising. But I can't justify spending over $330 for a mobo that is tied to an old and fading memory structure ... ;) Besides, if I plan on using the new E8500 that's coming out in January, then DDR3 memory is the best decision ... oh so many new things, it just drives a brother nuts!!

The DFI UT X38 won't make it to retail until Christmas and there are quite a few BIOS bugs in the Intel DX38 and it requires DDR3. For now Asus is the best option for X38 boards.
yea that is kinda gay that u can only use DDR3
how about this awsomeness

Avid, do you know what specifically are the "BIOS bugs" in the BoneTrail Mobo?
I haven't really heard anything. There hasn't been any reviews that I know of that have made it on to the Internets ... do you know if one has been done?

When it comes to finding a good overclocking mobo, the best place to get the info is on http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums. A couple users over there have the mobo and have had some problems with it.

I am a registered user on that site as well, under the same moniker, AKHandyman. That is where I first learned that the BoneTrail mobo was finally out. The problems that some of the users have complained about are not as bad I thought you made them out to be ... :) Not a problem, Avid, thanks.
