integrated graphics?XFX hardware is for for the enthusiast so why we would want onboard gfx? Also most nforce boards are made by nvidia. it just looks like they have put an XFX sticker on it.this isnt a bad thing but nvidia they have been doing it for years whereas xfx have only just started.

I would assume it is geared towards people that are computer enthusiasts that don't game....like video/music editing and photography work.

hmm maybe. i hope all mobo manufactures dont start to include integrated gfx.

Actually this is not the first motherboard under XFX brand. XFX had released Motherboard nForce 680 Sli based (http://xfxforce.com/web/product/listConfigurations.jspa;jsessionid=axgDAQEt-6aflQaiRA?series=XFX+nForce+680i&seriesId=989302&productId=989542) couple of months ago. In some region they even bundled it with 8800GTX/Ultra. I think there's someone who posted the deal in the forum :p

I just hope XFX Does Not Bundle any door-knob warning sign with those sperm cell art on it.......

And believe it or not, Integrated GPU is pretty much in demand, Intel control over 50% of the Integrated GPU market and i'm pretty sure both ATi and nVidia arent too happy with that :p

Surley not from gamers though?

Surley not from gamers though?

Many pc are sold to non-gamers....... and FYI, budget gamers do use integrated motherboard lol :p

I know lots of my college friend who still stuck with Warcraft III using integrated VGA's. ATi Xpress 200 and nVidia 6100 and 945G are the common integrated-GPU-chipset used. They could play older games without problem. And yes, there are still people who play Command and Conquer Red Alert 2; and Starcraft.......... :p

lets just hope that integrated graphics are not going to be standard for gamers to..

Why do you think AMD bought ATI ? It wasn't because having a graphic company would look good on their financial statement, it was because of INTEGRATED GRAPHICS! And what's more interesting is that I bet we'll see more of an integrated approach to CPU's with GPU's and vice versa. It might one day come down to where the CPU and GPU would be integrated on one die and fit into a LGA socket and then port out the back through an HDMI port. Kinda like what's happening now with most integrated videos. :)

That moves is bad........... imagine changing the whole GPGPU+CPU just because the GPU performance was bad. And worse of all, you'd be limited to use just one brand for the GPGPU+CPU.

I like choices. If you presented me with product mix i'll be happy. Stuck with one brand for both graphics processor and CPU? No thanks

Maybe they are suggesting they found a way to infuse testosterone into their motherboards!

Manly motherboards ftw!:thumb:

Unfortunately, Zefram, I can bet ya dollars to doughnuts, that that's where AMD is looking to cut costs ... Oh I'm sure you'll be able to mix and match CPU's and GPU's, within reason, but they are definitely looking at ways to make things easier for the middle-of-the-roaders, if you catch my drift. If nVidia had played up to Intel when Intel was courting them, you would be watching a whole different ballgame right now. nVidia didn't want to play with the big boys and now, I'm thinking, AMD/ATI has a knuckleball coming from the bullpen in a relative short period of time, and it will have nVidia swinging at air!! :)

That's the problem there. If they implement GPGPU+CPU (lets call it AIO 'all in one' CPU) it would drives the CPU cost up, since there will be extra transistor to go with the GPU functionality (unless they perfected a true AIO CPU!)
That means, if you buy the AIO CPU, and you buy a external GPU that would be a waste of money........... you'd paying for a function you wont be using.

Middle-Of-The-Roaders, well, for them, they wouldnt need a AIO CPU. What they need is a cheap CPU and an integrated-GPU motherboard

Its an exciting plans though, but as usual they better not shove up the AIO CPU up my throat. LOL

A merger/takeover doesnt happen if the company had good financial status........ nVidia is a giant corporation, and the investor are more wiser than just saying 'yay' to a proposition by Intel to buy over them.

You wont lose either way. Its not either ATi or nVidia. Owh boy i do remember the sweetness of having to choose the GPU manufacturer for different GPU back in pre-millennium times....

do you reckon graphics cards will be around for quite some time or will they be superceded by AIO's lol?

Owen, who knows what lies in the dark and greedy minds of men? Hahaha ... I really think that the idea of an "AIO CPU/GPU" has crossed the R & D boys minds of ATI/AMD/INTEL/nVidia many times over. The problem may not be how to do it, but how to do it AND make money! That's what it's all about, IMO. Can't make a buck? Don't do it! Simple capitalistic math.

indeed! whats happening with AMD fusion?

indeed! whats happening with AMD fusion?

Its still in development. You could read about it HERE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Fusion)

And its first target was......... mobile segment. A AIO CPU would benefit laptop most because of its power saving all-in-one design.

As for desktop........... graphic card would live longer, unless all manufacturer agrees to the AIO's setups.

Owh, antitrust law. The law to avoid monopolist company from monopolizing all the markets............... If Intel was to adopt the AIO strategy, rest assured they would be sued by other manufacturer (read: SiS, VIA, nVidia, etc)

Nobody certain what future would bring to us. If all goes well, maybe we'd be using RAT BRAIN (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/12/07/rat_brain_flies_jet/) to became graphic and central processors ;)
