Okay guys, let's hear what you think is the best Heatsink/Fan combo out there ... so far I have to lean towards the new Noctua NH-U12P (http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1259/noctua_nh_u12p_cpu_cooler/index.html) and even though I have the Thermalright IFX-14 ... I don't think that to be as good as my Noctua ... but what other ones do you guys think should be in there?

I believe the ThermalRight Ultra 120 Extreme is still the king.

Scythe Ninja! Just because you can get them so cheap now adays. But I really want you to try the Coolermaster GeminII.

Here's probably the best one that I have found.. It's kind of a b1tch to hookup, but once you do, I can gaurantee that you won't have any cooling problems. Might be overkill though. Take a look here. (http://www.stormchaser.ca/Misc/Wind%20Tunnel%20Aug%202006/Wind_Tunnel_Aug_02.JPG) You can see how this guy has it connected in the bottom left of the picture.

Good luck.

wont you have problems with the heatsinks on that intel board with this cooler?

Naw, the Noctua is high enough to clear the PWM heatsinks, but remember, the Intel rig is for a customer ... it's not mine ... and as far as the DFI board I have, it shouldn't be a problem either ... :)

That is actually a big jet engines............... and its a windtunnel :p

Owh, the air is warm, thus even that gargantuan space condom, as you put it, wont be able to cool down the CPU

Anyway, my vote goes to thermalright. The construction and quality of the heatsink is....... unbelievable

Are you talking about the IFX-14 or the Ultra 120? Both, IMO seem well built and capable of dissipating heat real well ... my only complaint is that the IFX-14 is overly large and can interfere with some RAM or NB heatsinks ... not that bad though ... ;)

Ultra-120. Never seen IFX-14, but reading its reviews now :p

It's definitely one BIG honking heatsink, ... :woot: It does seem to cool very well, but it looks to me to be more viable OUTSIDE of a case than in one ... may just use it as a overall cooler for when I am testing CPUs on my work bench ... :p

I have my own computer repair/custom build business called "The Computer Cabin." I live in the deep interior of Alaska, so my customers are mainly Alaskan Natives, old retired people or "sourdoughs", and the local businesses in my small community of Tok (rhymes with smoke!! ... get it?) Anyways, I work when I want to and have been doing quite well for a number of years ... :p

To the best of my knowledge, I am the only one for a couple of hundred miles in all directions ... I kinda have the market "surrounded" ...

It's nice to have that customer base and for the most part, everyone I deal with knows me and my wife, (she's an Alaskan Native) so I treat them with the utmost respect and I give a lot of freebie advice and so on ... that's the way to keep your business going and growing ... :p

AK; Isn't the fan supposed to mount in between the two halves of your cpu heatsink?

It can mount either way or two fans on each end blowing in, if you have enough room... and as you can see the NB cooler would be in the way if I left it mounted that way ... I am waiting on some new 140mm fans and when I put my Q6600 in, I'll mount it the other way ... pics later this week! ;)

Boy was that a stupid movie ... yea, I went right out and got me all that stuff and some more ... I about pissed my pants I was laughing so hard ... but one thing about the movie that was realistic, it's true about Barrow, Alaska ... for approx thirty days, there is no daylight ... the sun never gets above the horizon ... at least where I live, the sun does come up ... about 4-6 degrees above the horizon ... but we're gaining daylight more everyday! Whoopee!
