Would anyone disagree with fact that I just may need this?

Pfft, my X1800XT used to hit about 86C before I replaced the cooler with an aftermarket one. That equates a 42.8F difference! :P It might have even hit 88-90 degrees celcius at some points. I think it's fine, although running cooler NEVER killed any piece of hardware. (Unless you mess up with dry ice)

You might want to consider this too:

Exhausts air out the back which should be more efficient and it won't eat up all your expansion slots like that Thermalright.

i actually bought that thermalright cooler for the 8800gt that i ordered from Dell, but since DELL never got to ship out the MSI 8800gt so i canceled it and ordered a super clocked Gigabyte 8800gt which comes with the zalman cooler.

but i gotta tell ya, i held that thermalright heatsink in my hand and all i could feel was power!!!

What temps are you guys getting with the standard 8800GT's cooler?? I seem to be getting about 35c to 38c idle and then 60c full load at the absolute most - That's with the fan speed set to about 50% as well..

80c is hot comixion! Your cpu temps are awesome though!

CPU temps are at idle and if I recall correctly, the AMD's slow down if they arent being used.. Easy way to getting them to idle with next to nothing speed ;)

Download Riva Tuner 2.06 and go to the fan tab and turn up the fan speed.. I have mine running at a minimum of 50% and 90% when benching, cools it down perfectly :)

First time I played Crysis my gpu temps were around 85c, checked the fan speed and it was still at 29%, so now I run riva tuner and set the fan speeds manually.
On a side note I run the card in Linux and auto fan control seems to work fine, so it might be a problem with the nvidia drivers on windows?

I just installed RivaTuner and adjusted my fan up 60%. It brought those temps down 8C load. I feel better now.;)

I'd set the fan to 70% because its not too noisy and when your fragging, its that bit more noisy anyways, so you wont notice the difference ;)

Playing Unreal or Colin Dirt last night, my temps never went over 60C under a load :) Loving it :D
