Ok, fans, fans, everywhere fans. Case fans that is.

Ball bearing, sleeved. yada yada.

LED. clear, you name them.

What are the good ones and ones to stay away from?

I use the 120MM Thermaltake Thunderblade sleeved
2000 +-10% rpm
78 CFM
21dBA
4-pin
120x120x25mm
Intelligent wire management, green wire sleeving

Is there a better choice? I need to know because I am buying 3 more to replace these 3 red LED's.

I like the Noctua NF-P12s. Works good on heatsinks. Used them as my front case fans as well but they don't seem as effective. Still, it's nice and quiet which is my current goal: cool yet quiet.

I've been thinking about getting one of these:
Cooler Master Y720DCD-25T1-GP 120mm Blue LED Silent Fan 110CFM 16dBA (http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=69&products_id=22966)
There's also a non-LED one too, but I like my blue LEDs :) So I need at least one LED fan in my case to give it some light. Of course, 16dBA is not at 110CFM, 16dBA is when you run them at the lowest speed. 38dBA at 110CFM. Though I'd take those numbers with a grain of salt.

I like the Scythe "Slipstream" fans. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010110573%2050002108%201372726538%201372826146&bop=And&CompareItemList=N82E16835185059%2CN82E16835185056% 2CN82E16835185057%2CN82E16835185060%2CN82E16835185 058)

I used the 88 CFM one to replace the original fan that came with my Scythe Ninja heatsink. As far as fan noise compared to the old fan its the same. You can't hear it. But I can hear the air it moves. Also dropped my load temps by about 8C.

I'm replacing mine to go green for a change of pace. I seen a modded case using green and it was unique.
But I dont want to spend $$ on cheapo fans.
I want to change them while I am installing this http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=209

I'm with JD on this one ... the Noctua NF-12P are very quiet ... but pricey ... There's also the Aerocool 120mm fans from SVC (http://www.svc.com/ledfans120.html) check 'em out!

I would be using a Zalman fan controller. (above link) I could forego the included controller the fan has? It would be useless to me.

Yea, good point. You don't really have much of a selection, from newegg at any rate. I searched for 120mm fans with green leds and got 6 results. Unless you get a little creative a do a little modding. Or find them elsewhere.

AOC Evercool aluminum-housed (http://www.aocusa.com/images/PC%20Cooling/FAN-AL12025B3.jpg) fans kind of suck. Mine is really, really off balance and doesn't move much air for how loud it is. Maybe I just got a dud; who knows. Looks cool, though.

I have and be prepared to be disappointed if you order them ... they are cheaply made and they will over time start to make sounds because of the sleeve bearing not being completely closed ... dust gets in there and they start to wobble and make funny sounds ... I know because the one I have in my everyday rig needs to be replaced ... :(

The clear / LED 120 MM antec fans work great for me. I have experience with only the clear antec and the black antec fans, been using them for years. The black one lasted me about two years, the clear ones have lasted me four years and still going, no weird noises or loss in performance.

I was wondering as some of the other PC forums I use, they rave about them and I must admit, I've got a few and they are great fans :) I've got to get 4 more for my 4 TRUE (Thermalright Ultra Extreme) heatsinks for my new rigs... I'm told they cool the CPU's down very well :)

Have you had any personal experiences with those Blackfire4 fans? Looking at their UV Blue ones for myself.

Use Noctua NF-P12s on those TRUEs :) Much better combination IMO.

Sorry, I haven't. The rating on them are a bit too noisy for me.

here is one i just added today. i noticed the bottom of the ram chips were much cooler then the tops. since i am giving them a little extra V anyways (2.3V) and i am gonna start playing with the mem timings i figured i might need to even out that temp; works out quite well actually
i just found an old 30mm? so i just made a standoff about 2" off the mobo and attached the fan.

i felt like madden making these drawings lol
"and then see how the air sneaks right buy the ram to hit the CPU BOOM"

It will depend on how fast and how noisy the Noctua fans are.. The Yate Loons I was looking at where 88CFM and only 40db.. I think the slowest one was 44CFM and about 20db or something... I'll try and find the link :)

The Noctuas are nearly silent and the P12s have increased air pressure so it'll work good on the restrictive TRUE.

I don't see how you find 40dBA quiet by any means...

"..and then "BOOM"..I can make the ar flow go through there, because, when things get hot, they are not as cool as they were, so you put this fan right there and "BOOM" when wind blows on something, it tends to get cooler"

The Noctua's have a very nice CFM and are VERY quiet ... I have two of them on my Noctua NH-U12 and it's cooling it just fine ... (though I am considering a TRUE myself ... :o)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811999139

I've had the same red ones in my case for 5 months and they have done a good job keeping it very cool in that case. Plus with the 2 extra 92MM fans it has (one on top and rear) the airflow seems to be just right thus far. And also, since they can be a nuisance, I bought this controller to bring them down when I;m not gaming or using the PC.
http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?Idx=209

I'm going with a bright green color witht the Blue cpu fan and blue OCZ PSU blue led fan and (2) 4" green cold cathodes for a somewhat hopefully "unique" look. But not too bright. I'll get pics

This thread is good as dead, but thought id bump it with a "review" of Scythe Slipstream 120mm 88cfm 33db fans. Just bought 2 and installed them, move a ton of air while being nearly silent, i can barely hear them, especially since my 3870s fans are cranked upto 70% fixed and are little loud. Great fans so fare thou.
