I can't believe the stability control this thing has! As an engineer I am dumbfounded.

Holy Shyt!!! Now that's one crazy robot ... it is unbelievably real!!! The implications are unlimited ... search and rescue, security, the list could go on and on ... that's wild!

I watched that the other day, it's nuts! Imagine one of those chasing you?!?!

I didn't see a big ole mouth full of razer sharp teeth, so maybe its bite is not worse than its bark ... :D

What is your engineering discipline?

What is your engineering discipline?

I am not a professional engineer by any means (should have clarified), I'm all self taught. But I understand enough about mechanics and how electronics work to understand what went into building something like this.

You are an electrical engineer yourself correct? So this was probably very interesting to you as well.

He probably would have been more interested if it had guns strapped to its sides.

Oh sure, it was interesting. My jaw dropped when I saw it get kicked and recover, and stayed dropped for the remainder of the video.

Since you already have some hands-on background, you would probably do well to get an engineering degree. The money is good, you won't be bored, and there is a severe shortage here on the Gulf Coast (more so in Alaska), so you won't have any trouble finding a job, which means you can be pretty selective as far as who you'd like to work for.

I think a degree in electrical or mechanical engineering would be right up your alley.

He probably would have been more interested if it had guns strapped to its sides.

Well hellz yeah! I defy you to name anything that isn't more interesting with guns strapped to the sides. :sniper:

How right you are DoK ... I just recently attended a public hearing regarding the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA) and the only proposal that was accepted by the State of Alaska, TransCanada's proposal. The main thrust was how to hire local Alaskans and what trades would be most in demand ... and engineering, pipe-fitting, welding, and a bunch of other trades (IT stuff, my forte :)) were on top of the list! The sooner people come to Alaska and get training, the better their chances of getting hired on ... it's the Great Last Chance at making some big, big bucks! ... :p

I quite enjoy my web design career. But I would love to attend school again and receive a mechanical engineering degree if for no other reason than to expand upon my knowledge.

Besides I'm always building something. :thumb:

aw, i was totally gonna post this one lol
thing is CRAZY but pretty loud
TOTALLY reminds me of the hunters or whatever they are called from HL2 EP2

LOL that is impressive, however, on closer inspection you could see a radiator behind the robot (much like the radiator used by avid's watercooling system lol)

Is the radiator meant to cool the CPU or the hydraulic actuators that supposedly running like hell on that robot? I'm sure there's some sort of powerful computer system running on that robot, because a normal digital gyroscopic chip cant handle that sort of maneuvers. If it relied totally on digital gyroscope, the whole robot would wobble like crap

Well hellz yeah! I defy you to name anything that isn't more interesting with guns strapped to the sides
Just like the UAV, they used it at the beginning for surveillance, but later they strapped on a missile and ta-da! It became a very nice killing machine.
The same would happen with this robot. Heck, you could mount a .50 cal machine gun and pour some serious firepower to the enemy. AT missile aint heavy, you could mount on that robot for sure ;)

Screw using it in the military; I want one to ride around on.

Looks like it would go great with one of these - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_iup2jXQqI

At first,,,but then I got used to it.

Why does it have to make that loud ass buzzing noise.

They should fix that. Put a muffler on it

i thought it looked like something off of HL2:E2

I think the buzzing is a warning of it's intent to protect the "Master". Stay in line or die at the hands of the "Borg", "Matrix", "Hive", etc. We're getting closer to the era of Bot vs. Fleshy:D It's why I go to the range regularly and fire with great accuracy anything from a 20mm rifle to .380 subcompact, lol. Now if only the Navy would let me trailer one of the 25mm chainguns home to mount on the roof.
