Amazing. Though my room must be getting progressively colder since it was up at 52C earlier tonight. The sidebar gadget with temps is Everest. Though clearly my NB/SB temps failed cause there's no way it's 0C.

And lower...

How did you get the multiplier up to 9? or does that work differently than the 6750 I'm working with.

It's a E6600, multi is 9 by default...

Blasted. Found out why it was running so cold. Apparently the crappy ASUS program was eating up 50% CPU and Everest was eating up the other 50% so thus Prime really wasn't doing much. :( Ah well.

how easy are they to fit?

Easy if your not a n00b :p

Helps if you have a long screw driver too. I got this nice one with my old Noctua heatsink which I used on my TRUE as well.

BAM!

so what's the real temp with both cores stressed.

This is the proper temp:

Still rather good for 3.6GHz I'd say.

that's a good temp. i hope you're not sacraficing too much for the fan noise, what fan do you have on it.

Noctua NF-P12, basically silent :) Two of them in push-pull.

Im actually thinking of ditching my NF-P12 for a Scythe S-Flex.

Any reason why? I find 2 of them in push/pull config results in a nice amount of air coming out the "back" of the heatsink. With a single it seems most of the air leaked out the "sides" rather than making its way all the way through.

I looked at that Scythe, but never pulled the trigger when it came time to order ... it does have a bit more CFM than the Noctua, but as I said in another thread ... silence is golden ... and you probably won't see that much of a degree drop even with a bit more CFM ... maybe 1 or 2 at the most ... not 5 or 6 ... that's a sure bet ... ;)

Dont mind a little noise, just replaced my case fans for Scythe Slipstreams 88cfm at 33db, barely audible. Aswell as ive been reading around that the S-Flex have a couple degree difference over the Noctua, and since were all trying to max out our systems, a few degrees is always something :D
Also couple places ive seen put this panaflo above the 2 previously mentioned fans http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835705002

BAM!

i've got one of those panaflow fans, they're shaky as hell. if you don't run them in full speed, they'll rock your floor.

One thing to remember with certain fans is how well they are protected ... some are not sealed, such as against dust. A dust-sealed fan is the best ... as over time, the dust will clog the insides, making for the life of the fan to diminish fast, thus it becomes slower and louder ... ;)

AcoustiFans are perhaps the ultimate on the market right now, but they are not for everyone, especially those on a budget. They are not cheap! :woot:

The 12025B (http://www.quietpcusa.com/AcoustiFan-DustPROOF-Premium-Quality-Ultra-Quiet-Computer-Fan---120mm-AFDP-12025B--P66C6.aspx) is the top of the line and I will say that I can't hear it, yet it provides an adequate degree of air movement. This bad boy has an exceptional life expectancy (at 25°C) of close to 60,000hrs (6.85yrs)!! Now, I know most of you guys will run me up the flag pole because of the price ... :p ... but factor in the life expectancy of the other "cheaper fans" and how often you replace them ( I had to dump a $15 AeroCool fan after 1 year, ... culprit? ... DUST!) and you might reconsider looking into a better built fan. Just ole AK's musing on the always controversial fan front ... :D

BAM!
03-23-08, 02:39 PM
AK why are you this crazy about the fans anyway... just pop open your window :D

i serously can't see myself spending $35 a pop on a fan tho, despite the fact that they are really nice fan.

If your worried about temps, go water cooling!! :p

I cant remember what my temps where at 3.6Ghz for my E6600 but then i did need 1.6vcore to get it stable (or so I thought) with my folding program, but after two seconds of it running it crashed :( Damn Orthos lied to me!! :(

Well the reason I mention it is that if the air around him is rather cool or cold, then his temp's will go down a lot more..
Here's a normal set of temps and then one with the window open...

I dont think that air would make those temps possible ;) 100% load on both cores for at least two hours :)

I live in Canada, though winter is over, but if it was still cold outside I could probably get close to those temps using AK's trick ;)

My PC is in the basement as well so its relatively cool down here for a while. Heats up after a couple hours of gaming though :p Along with the halogen lights...

I've considered water cooling many, many, many times but when it comes down to order time, either something's not in stock, or I no longer have the money.

Its something I'd definitely consider as it works more so with the ambient temps than anything.. If they are low, your onto a winner :)

I'd rather not Koolance. I want to piece out my own setup when I do decide to go for it. Sorry.

The all in one kits arent too bad, but i think if you do buy separately, you'll get a much better cooling system and it will help with lowering those temps right down :)
