View Full Version : Today absolutely sucked!
So yesterday my bike broke down and I couldn't get a decent tow because it was late and easter.
So I left it in the parking lot (in a parking space) so I could come back today and get it towed.
Make a long story short, It was impounded before I could get back and cost me $175 to get it out of the impound (after trying to charge me $200).
I'm very angry today... :sniper:
Man that's a crock! Christmas 06 my wife locked her keys in her car on New Years Eve and was charged like 80 bucks just for the guy to spend 10 minutes getting into her car. Her stupid poodle jumped on the lock button while she was throwing something away at a gas station.

The poodle wasnt stupid. Maybe the neighborhood looked rough and he did it on purpose.
Look on the bright side, at least you don't have anal fissures.
...right?

Always looking on the bright side. It actually looks like someone tried to steal the bike during the night. The police report for towing it said it wasn't in a paring spot but was in the driving lane of the parking lot. Someone probably tried to walk away with it and when they couldn't just left it there.
So I guess in some sense I'm lucky.

I think he's saying his bike crapped out on him so he left it in the parking spot.
While it was there, someone apparently attempted to steal it but either got spooked or whatever and left it as far as they got it thus leaving it in the drive area so-to-speak, thus causing it to get towed since it wa
s no longer in the parking space in which he left it.

Didn't the alternator keep the engine running even though the battery died? I mean, once you start the engine, it shouldnt need the battery help, right?
The battery just helps to start the engine, after it start, the alternator should supplied constant voltage to the spark plugs, and the rest of the electric goes back into your battery. Thus, in theory, once you start your engine, you could take off the battery and it'll still running.
Correct me if i'm wrong though :D

You are correct, which is why I believe the alternator took a dump on me.

I can relate as well, but a different story ... another reason why I live where I live and not where I used to.
In 2002, I did a 6 month stint for FedEX in Manchester, NH at the airport. I had a 1999 GMC 1500 short-bed, all tweak out, headers, racing shyt, and tires and blah, blah ...:p.
I was coming back from a huge pilot get-together in Pennsylvania and went into one of those state owned rest stops in New Jersey. I came back out and my starter took a dump ... :( . I couldn't get it started. I got underneath and started to take my starter out, thinking I could call a cab and go get a new starter and fix it and be on my way. But oh no... the Jersey state police in the rest stop area came over and told me no repairs, that I had to stop and get it towed out of there. In addition to that, the tow company couldn't tow me the nearest PepBoys, they had to tow me to their station first! And then release me from there. Man was I pissed. I had to call another tow company to take me and my truck to the nearest PepBoys, where I finally got a starter and replaced it. It took about 4 hours and over $300 that afternoon. I'll never, ever go through New Jersey again. UP THEIRS! :curse:

They definitely know they can take you for a ride don't they? Why can't this be regulated by some organization?

You're problem is worse than mine. Mine will run fine when it's running. My bike just wont even crank over, a littel cough at best. Instrument cluster flickers, and the fuel pump starts to re-prime.Although after winter storage one of my lifters makes more noise now. Thought maybe it was just a sticky lifter, but the service tech. said it was just dry? Because the tick goes away after the engine is fully warmed up. Alot can go wrong in such a small engine.
