Just wanted clarify that if a Mobo's specs states that the "Memory Standard" says DDR2 1066 or 1200 that my DDR2 800 would be compatible.
For example on the X38 based boards it doesnt mention DDR2 800.
At least the one I'm looking at does not. It says DDR2 1200

Works fine as I run DDR2-800 in my Maximus Formula.
Stop making up stupid questions and just order the damn thing :p
i kind of wish i'd ordered a good P35 board instead of an expensive X38 that doesn't really justify the cost. clock for clock i could've gotten the same result from a good gigabyte or asus P35, instead, for the same thing i paid $239.

That's how I'm thinking. I mean, your looking at about $100 you could put towards something of good use.
exactly... i am defintely gonna do things differently when i upgrade my AMD rig in the living room next.

Isn't there more to the x38 then just a supposed better chipset?
I know you get PCIe 2.0 available, but I don't have the experience with it to agree or not with other reviews. I heard it was a good improvement, but I hear a lot of things and it's getting tougher to tell if it was voices in my head or from people. :)
What other "features" are available to the x38 then p35. Please help me avoid buyers remorse. :)

Yes, please indulge.
Also, whats the advantage of PCIe 2.0?
Would it be an improvement for, lets say the 8800GTS I;m getting? Or just another number to make us go "OOOH wow!"

when i asked Avid about the Blood Iron, he told me for single card setups, PCI-e 1.0 will be just fine...i don't know about the 8800gt/gts 512mb, but my HD 3850 at 840mhz doesn't even use the available bandwidth of PCI-e 1.0...

X38 has more SATA ports (at least 6), Trued PCI-E 2.0 (x16 lanes x2) plus more ... :D

I have 6 sata ports.
Dont say "plus more" then stop.:- :p
i saw bunch of gigabyte P35's with 8 SATA's, to me it doesn't matter if it's natively ran by ICH9 or 3rd party SATA chip, it's the same thing. i still can't justify the price tag of the X38 if PCIE 2.0 is the only benefit.
however, i do have to admit, overclock has been a lot easier on this X38 board, not sure about the P35's because i never owned one. but at least on my X38, all you pretty much have to change is the FSB and Vcore voltage all the way up to 420mhz before you have to do anything else with the NB and what not.
