View Full Version : What do you carry? (knifes)

Hi Guys,

We've already had the gun discussions. I'm curious as to what kind of knifes you carry with you.

I have a smith & wesson folding blade that I carry with me whenever I leave the house.

do you live in Iraq? or is this call of duty. :sniper: i don't think most of us carry knifes with us.

i've got a SRT key chain that's sharp enough on one end to leave a mark if you press hard enough.

Keys, cell phone... wallet. Uh... if I felt like I needed a knife, I'd carry a gun... /shrug

I don't carry any knives/guns/weapons. I believe that's against the law here, especially in schools...

Heck, if you bring a toy gun into school you get suspended a few days.

This is what I used to carry. Don't carry it on me much anymore since I bought my bike.

I still carry mine after I bought the bike... More people see to try and mess with me while I'm on the bike.

I actually got to do my first mountain road today on the bike. Man that was a blast!

And I also carried my knife while I was in college. I had more people mess with me there than ever.

Here in the UK if your caught with a knife in the street by the police you would be doing jail time. Especially some of those knife's in this thread. The pen knife is ok but those others well, thats just unacceptable imo. You are begging for trouble carrying one of those things around with you.

Why would you want to carry that thing around with you? If people are ' messing ' with you at college then whats the best possible outcome of you stabbing them? If you carry a knife you intend to use it. That makes you a danger to not only yourself but the public as well. What if your attacker gets hold of that knife and turns it on you?

That boy ain't right.

I carry one of these when I wear jeans:

This thing has gotten me out of more than enough jams than I care to remember.

This is what I have when I'm wearing shorts (the half-serrated version):

It's a lot lighter, and the bit driver alone is worth it.

*Oh, these aren't for defense, they're used as tools.

I don't want to use it for self defense, I haven't had to yet. But if some crazy comes at me with the intent to harm me or my family than I will be glad I have it.

I do however use it regularly for cutting things or fixing things while I'm not at my house.

Example of use: The other day someone cut me off while I was on my bike so I honked my horn at him, he turned around and followed me to my destination and when I stop he hopped out of his car and started coming towards me in an aggressive manor. I pulled out my knife so he could see that what he was doing wasn't a very smart Idea (I had no intention of using it, I was going to hit him with my helmet if it got bad). He saw the knife and got back in his car and left.

I like the look of that... It looks damn usefull as a penknife alternative.

Make, Name etc... Would be usefull to have at 4x4 site while out marshalling.

I think the idea of carrying arms is that, most people are probably not going to attack you if you have something

Show them you have a weapon and their likely to leave you alone, and if not, atleast you have the chance to defend yourself

Maybe not the best idea in a school where your likely to be bullied/picked on and might do something stupid

It is a Leatherman E307X (I think). There's an E306 and 307, one of the two has the straight edge and the other has the half-serrated edge. I have the half-serrated variant and love it. The small serrated segment is great for cutting PVC or rope or any other odd ball task that may present itself when you don't have the ideal tools.

Oh, and the bottle opener works better than any of the bottle openers on my other knives.

I just seem to have that kind of luck. My roommate wont ride with me anymore because he noticed it happening too. Haha! Nah it actually doesn't happen very often.

But look at it like this, If I hadn't had the knife with me, the aggressor would have pressed his endeavor and it could have escalated into something serious. Because I had my knife with me, nothing happened... Which is the point.

I've used mine as a bottle cap opener a few times. But I had to stop, it was getting dangerous. Almost put it in my tv! Friend's skin will grow back, but the tv... you don't mess with that. Nataku, I don't know why they'd want to mess with you... If you dress anything like me for a ride. Helmet, two piece leathers, boots, gauntlet style gloves. I look like a Power Ranger! It's morphin time!!!

as valid as your point is, there's also a flip side of that.

as i was doing traffic school this past weekend (only if i were to slow down for 5 goddamn mins), apparently someone told a story of a man in Minnesoda who got pissed off because someone cut him off on the freeway, so he did the same back to the guys... so these two guys ended up chasing each other cat and mouse game on the freeway, and got off the free way, F you and F me.. then got back into their cars.... the guy ended up pulling out his gun and shot at the other guy 14 times, other guy's girlfriend ended up eating the bullet. he is now doing 10 years in jail. DateLine interviewed him in his jail cell, asking him if he could do it over again, what would he've done differently, his response was "i'd probably taken a different route".

as effective as weapons could be, i'd still think it's not a good idea when i think of the fact that i could be doing jail time for using it.

Well yeah, you do get jail time when you do something idiotic like both of those guys you just mentioned did.

is it legal to carry a gun in America without a license?

In some parts, yes. Vermont and Alaska are the only 2 states I know of that allow you to carry a concealed weapon without having to get a special permit. Almost all of the rest of the country permits open carry (i.e., NOT concealed), but hardly anyone exercises that right. It's pretty tacky in my opinion, but there are some bona fide gun nuts out there who think it necessary for everyone to see that they're packing.

Also, if a shot was fired, and you were licensed could they (police) trace it back to the owner?

*misread that - if you're licensed to carry, you don't get to shoot someone and then leave the scene (not legally, at least). You have to stay around, you answer the officer's questions, and they may disarm you of that particular weapon until you're proven innocent (guilty until proven innocent and all that). If you're not licensed to carry, they could find you if given enough time, evidence, and witnesses.

What happened to the days when you would , at most, have a fist fight and be done with it, win or lose.

Now days people are cowards so they resort to shooting and killing someone for looking at them wrong.

Guns should be for the avid collector, sport, hunting, and self protection.

Because no one has honor anymore. Thus no reason to fight for it.

I think the problem is, it could have gone either way

In that case, the guy backed off, but if he hadn't, instead of a punch-up someone would probably have ended up dead

As far as tracing someone, i believe they take a ballistix record of every gun (due to "unique" rifling in every gun) so that, if you shoot someone, you can be traced

America is the most gun friendly first world country. it's written into our constitution.

a stunt guy i hired for some fly wire stunt carries a 357 at all times in his truck. one time he got tailed by an under cover cop who pulled him over, who saw him with a 357 on his lap thorugh the window, asking him what he was doing avoiding him on the freeway when he tailed gated him, he told the cop "i had no idea who you were, i gotta protect my stock" (he had a truck load of props in the back of his vehicle). the cop told him "you're lucky you seem like you know what ya doin,,, i ama let you go".

it's the wild west here. you listerately ride your own shotgun. :D

I always thought about what it meant "exactly" as to refering to a country as "Third world" or "First World".

How is this determined? Wealth? economics? Technology? and I never hear "second world".

sorry, changed the topic.:-

actually the correct term would be developed country. there's really no first world, or second world, only third world, developing, or developed country. it's just how they catagorize by GDP, technology, infrustructure and net export (which refers to GDP). but i just like to call it first world, and third world because it's easier for me. :D

Oh and I am well aware and pray it never comes to that. But as far as I could tell if I didn't do what I did I was going to get hurt. So I just had to do it and hope for the best outcome.

I'm not looking for a fight, and I've never been in one.
