Old Skool Mobo Want to Spin it Up

i own a good old skool a8r32-mvp deluxe along with an fx-60
i wanna OC it
yeah...big words
i know

i mean i've been tinkering with DFI p965 DARK and found the bios layout to be a lot easier

but a8r32-mvp sucks for noobs like me
but i've been reading stuffs in the net and the forums overclocking this
but none had explained on overclocking this sweet board on an unlocked multiplier
cuz if im not mistaken, unlocked multiplier means its free from any disturbance from the memory divider (correct me if im wrong)

but i still cant make any sense of many (though not all) stuffs in the bios
not just that
even if i put on AI OC Profile at say 15%, the pc will boot and say "overclocking fail, press f1 to enter SETUP or F2 to load default values"

how eh?
i'd like to show a list of the things in the bios
but just dunno where to start

my specs

AMD FX-60 + Thermaltake Golden Orb II
RAM - Kingston Value Ram DDR400MHZ 1gb x 3
X1950pro x 2
FSP Epsilon 600w

Ugh, all AMD Athlon64 FX series have unlocked multiplier. And from my experience almost all motherboard supports multiplier tweaking (without it, there wont be Cool N' Quiet function).

For normal AMD64, you could only set the multiplier lower. As for the FX, you could set the multiplier higher, but normally AMD K8's tend to have 3Ghz clockspeed ceiling ;)

Not much promise in the AMD 939 arena nowadays ... try eBay and get an Intel system ... :D

yeah, 3.0ghz is pretty much the limit...i got 3.05ghz @1.6v with my X2, lol

Heh; that's not THAT oldschool... There are plenty of people out there still running socket 939 :p

If you want to get oldschool, get a celeron 300A & a motherboard for it off ebay. :thumb:

In your bios; the cpu multiplier might be getting referred to as the clock ratio...
