Does it support quad core technology for processors?

Are you asking if you can use Vista 32bit version with a Quad-core processor? If so, yes, it works fine. Though most will also point out that Quads work well (better by thier opinion) in Win XP.

If your going Vista, get the 64bit version. Then you can run 4GB+ RAM and actually fully use it.
I run Vista x64 Ultimate on my quad-core with 4GB RAM. Works beautifully.

BUT if you're using less than 4GB of RAM, then just go with the 32-bit version. Less hardware compatibility problem, plus 64-bit O/S would consume more memory (RAM) as the code was 64-bit long - double of those on 32-bit. I read it somewhere that Vista 64-bit ate 400-600MB more RAM than those on 32-bit Vista
Thus, unless all of your hardware and peripheral had Vista x64 drivers, avoid 64-bit Vista. ;)

What if I'm gonna be running 4 gigs of ram? Would I have to have 64bit Vista to use it?

Yeah, like ElrichMeister said... in a 32 bit system, it has a limit of just over 3GB that it can use. There are ways of making it take use of the extra but I am not sure if it truely does or simply adjusts pagefile or something.
Using a 64bit system, it will have no problem seeing and using all 4GB of memory.
As far as the concern of what applications work in a 64bit enviroment, I use 64 bit and only found 1 issue so far... Free McAfee from comcast is 32 bit version only... Bastards. Oh well. It gives me the chance (makes me really) to try out the other virus software... OneCare from Windows is just like having UAC turned back on... I'm not going to be using that.. AVG is next. :)

Free Antivirus: AVG, Avast
Paid: NOD32, Kaspersky
Those are the best I'd say. I believe they all support 64bit.

Home Premium is nearly the same. The Ultimate Extras are just totally stupid.

Yep,
like jdrom17 is saying, Vista Home Premium is "almost" the same and you can get it in a x64 flavor. My wife is runnning 4GB on Home Premium x64 and a Quad Q6600.
What's the difference between home basic and home premium?
WOW! I'm so glad Systemax bought out compusa. http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3746812&CatId=3778

Home Basic looses the Vista Areo GUI. It's really not worth it IMO. For $10 more you get tons of more features, even if you don't use them, at least you have them.
