How do you get to DOS prompt on a POS Sony Vaio Desktop? I'm lost.
I want to run a CHKDSK, I guess, on the HDD I put in it.
I'm still having issues trying to install XP on it.

Also, does it make a difference if its an ATA100 or 133?
I may just pickup another HDD just to get it running.
A Win98 bootdisk will give you some basic tools, available from Bootdisk.com (http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm).
There are other bootdisks out there will many more utilities on them but i can't think of the name of any right now :P

I just find it a waste of time trying to get this old rig going but hey, if it will make 'em happy.
Its been a while since I used bootdisks, and/or fooled around with DOS. I'm rusty
