Hi guys I just wanted to know if I can buy an XP disk where I can use for customers computers? I get customers that want to get thire computer formated but they dont have a xp disk however some do have a sticked that says thire product key on the computer.
I have a xp disk but I don't want to use my own cd key for them and it is illegal if I did that as well.
So I just need to know what version I have to get in-order to use the customers product key?

Most installs that are on pre-built computers use an OEM(Original Equipment Manufacturer) license.

If what I am hearing is correct you don't want to use your XP Media CD on their computers because of licensing conflict. It just depends on if your "clients" use XP Pro or Home Edition.

I have used my XP Pro CD to install XP on friends computers and used their license. The best thing for you to do is acquire an OEM installation CD which is not that hard to do.

There is no worry as long as you have the correct XP CD and you are using their license that is on their case. Plus it makes no sense that they would not have their own XP Installation Media.

They say they lost the cd's or thire in a diffrent town or thire ex's took em bla bla bla, Do you get the picture.

So if the OS says OEM then I can use that CD and use thire License?

So I have to buy one that says OEM on it, right. I I can format about 4 computer for customers that have a license then I guess it will pay it off.

there are ways of obtaining it, rather than buying it
