Hopefully around Xmas time I will be purchasing a new rig.Ive found a pretty good deal online but I have a question. They are offering Vista 64 bit Home Premium for the same price as the 32 bit version. So whats the deal there? All I know is that the 32 bit version wont support more than 2 gigs of RAM and the 64 bit ver will. I mostly use my PC for gaming and browsing the internet. So would you opt for the 64 bit? Pro's and con's?
Cheers.

Go with the 64Bit if you have a quad core and you plan on using more than 2GB RAM. Better support for 64bit computing is coming out all the time in games, applications and most importantly, operating systems. I use 64bit XP and while I have streamlined it to meet my needs, the same can be said for the 32bit version as far as streamlining is concerned. However, I use a quad-core processor and I think it works quite well with my games and apps ... 64bit computing is the future anyways ... ;)

If you read THIS ARTICLES (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/vista-workshop,1775.html), you'll see that vista 64-bit ate more RAM, due to the O/S code being 64-bit long, which means that it'll ate twice as much space as the comparable 32-bit code.

Thus, if you planned to use more than 3GB of RAM, go with 64-bit, otherwise, just stick with 32-bit O/S ;)
