What would you guys recommend?
The only thing that is currently really keeping me away from jumping to Vista is being able to network my printer between a Vista machine, XP machine, and my OS X mac book. The printer is hooked up to the main machine and networked from there.
Being tempted to go Vista for the dx 10.1 lighting, since this rig would have no issues keeping up.
So, what should i do? lol

Hmmm as for the printer I could not tell you if you would be able to get it to work or not. I am still having trouble with my MagiColor 2300DL because the damn manufacturer didn't release working vista drivers. Otherwise go for it! I am happy with my windows vista ultimate, however go with the home premium because its a lot cheaper and has everything you will need.

I would agree with you Lava ... Home premium is really all you need, however, I would stay with the 64-bit version so you can use the extra memory. However, I can't remember if the Vista 32-bit version had that memory problem or not ... I don't really know but I'd stay with 64-bit nonetheless.
As far as your network is concerned, why not get a router? If your printer is network capable, then put it on the router ... then all computers would be able to see it on the network and use it, regardless of operating system. I have a Samsung ML2850 on my network and my wife prints to it from her Mac downstairs through the wireless ... she's very happy :D ... and so am I :p

its an HP PSC 2410, a USB printer, so only way i can print on it from other pcs in my house if my main rig is turned on, cause its connected thru it. Looking at buying a print server to hook upto my router, but thats for a later time.
Ofcourse id go with 64bit, id install Ultimate x64, its just im having a hard time convicing myself to go from xp to vista again lol.

Me and Devil have been chatting on xfire and I recommended a little $15-20 print server that hooks right up to your router/switch/hub and it compatible with all OS....
That issue would be solved if he would just get one, lol. :p
As far as Vista Home Premium 32-bit is concerned... There still is a memory limit... 3.5GB I think as I found that out with my machine b4 moving to Ultimate x64..

You could setup the printer to print through the network between Vista and XP, provided that you have both driver.
You could install additional driver through the sharing tabs on the printer's property, to include other O/S drivers. Screenshot:

So if your printer have Vista drivers, then i'd endorsed going on to Vista. Then you'd find that all the processing power and graphic processing power better utilized in Vista ;)
