What, no BSOD this time?
This is what we called 'cloud computing'
I think IBM first came out with this. They sold dumb terminals (no O/S inside, just firmware to connect to IBM server) that would connect to IBM server and you'd see a O/S at that dumb terminals.......... except that it was actually ran at IBM servers.
According to the article, this Azure platform is supposedly benefits business users; however, i don't like the idea of letting someone else had control over my O/S and data ( in this case, Microsoft ).
This platform could be utilized on small computers though. Namely, a small dumb terminal inside your car which connect to Azure and turn it into a fully functional computers. Or refridgerator with those dumb terminals that connect to Azure. :skel:

It's definitely not for the average consumer IMO. I think business would setup their own servers and have all the dumb-terminals connect to it like you said IBM did back in the day.
Basically so business don't need thousands of full computers that need to be upgraded every couple months/years, they could just upgrade the server. Cheaper and easier to manage I'd think.
Plus they wouldn't have so many IT calls to deal with since there wouldn't be much physical hardware at each employees desk.
