Hey guys, im wondering what kind of voltage is safe for my Kentsfield, i do have an extreme edition chip so i can use any multi, right now its running on 400x9 on stock volts for this CPU, which is 1.35v im wondering whats the max i can take it too, i want to break the magical 4ghz, its currently idleing at 38C, and it ranges anywhere from 35C-40C depending on Ambient Temps, loads are about 20C above that so max load that i have seen was about 60-63C. So what do you guys think?

the max under warranty is 1.5v i believe, on my q6600 im running 1.37 under load on air with idle temps in the mid 40's.

Max under warranty?
That sounds funny. They say overclocking voids the warranty. But the truth is, they won't know that you overclocked the processor to death if you send it for RMA. This is the reason why i never discouraged overclocking, but i opposed lapping those heatspreader as that would void the warranty.
Anyway, you can push the voltage as high as your cooling system permits, but i've kept reading a lot about 45nm quads being sensitive and acceptable maximum voltage is 1.40V
For more info refer to THIS (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=High+voltage+kills+45nm+CPU&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=). ;)

hmm after some reading most people said that its safe up to 1.5v for a 65nm

Some of us have even put 1.6v into our E6600's haha

I had 1.65v on my Q6600 for a short time ... I think it's still operable ... :D

Oh guys you worry to much about voltages :D
My Q6600 works fine after 1.7v and I think even my QX9650 (which as Zefram mentions shouldnt really have more than 1.45vcore for 24.7) had probably more than 1.8vcore through it whilst it was under phase... so please dont worry about temps :)
Even with my Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz with 1.45vcore (I think thats what its roughly at) temps arent even pushing 45c on all cores under a 100% load, so just bare in mind the temps and the speed your aiming for... 4Ghz for a Q6600 isnt easy to get stable in anyway shape or form!!
