Makes me wonder how many people in my area are doing this kind of crap.

I would be tempted to beat some asses if I found out that was going on in my area. Make the adults into slaves for a little while and see how they like it. A jail sentence doesn't bother anyone anymore. You get treated better in jail then some of the people trying to make it from paycheck to paycheck. Just don't drop the soap! :scared:

This is common practice amongst upper Chinese-class people here in S.E Asia.

My grandparents, long time ago had taken one of these 'long-term' maids from china, and she's now in her 50's (been serving since she was in her early teens) and were treated like families. But fret not, it's not all grim since now they had another maid (from indonesia) and the Chinese maid more like a supervisors now.

But yeah, i'm against these kind of practice, although if you look for another viewpoint, these kind of people practically lived in a turmoil country which prompted them to become maids in other country. Their salaries are net salaries, this is because their living expenses is being paid by the employer (normally).
Here in my country maids had their leave on sundays.

My own family had maids until recently, when my parents agree that me and my siblings are old enough to take care of our own arses. :D
