Well, I fixed my last problem, but accidentally deleted my backup partition. I then changed the disk system 3 or 4 times, and wrote a new partition before realizing my mistake. If I have ever needed help at PCSTATS, now would be the time. Let's just say yrs of my travels photos, my writing, and past work have vanished...

Btw, that wasn't the system partion. The only thing that saved me there was not copying any significant amount of files to the deleted disk.

Uhhh after formatting/partition and I'm guessing writing data, it's gonna be pretty damn hard to get any data back...
I've had luck with this software: http://www.runtime.org/ but I don't know if it'll work for you.

In that software readme, they stressed the importance of not attempting to write any data on the harddrive. They just pointed out that it would "Resulted in Permanent Lost of Data" (http://www.runtime.org/howto_datarecovery.pdf)
Try THIS SOFTWARE (http://www.recoverdatatools.com/ntfs-data-recovery.html), since it's specialty is to recover lost NTFS partition. And no kidding, this software won tons of awards, thus the software is on top of my list.
And that's the reason why i hate partition ;)

Well either way, once you've written over something it's going to be hard to get back the previous data IMO.
And I only used the Runtime software to recover my RAID0.

Phoenix, I agree with jdrom - try Runtime's GetDataBack. I've used it countless times and I swear by it.
Even though you've reformatted that and made new partitions, it will probably still be able to get at least some of your files - although it will take a long time; you might have to leave the thing running for 24+ hours while it scans the disk (it is very thorough). GetDataBack has about 5 steps it goes though before finding files; and although it takes a long time; you can save the progress in case the power goes out or something.
Just make sure you get the right version - Runtime make a GetDataBack specifically for NTFS, and another one that's specifically for FAT.
I also use Active@ Undelete (http://www.active-undelete.com/download.htm) once in a while - it's not nearly as capable as Runtime's options, however it is a lot faster.

Yes! GetDataBack worked like a charm. RecoverData for NTFS also saw the files. Only 1Gb was written to the drive after I deleted the partition, so most of the data was recoverable. By the computer gods' grace, my data is HEALED.
Thanks for the help folks! :)

Yes you can recover data.
It all depends on how many times that sector was writing over, and what data was written over it.
I am training in this field, and I can say for myself data can be recovered but it varies.
My recommendation is to first of take a IMAGE of that hard-drive.
But this is just data recovery, you need the original hard-drive, and you need a program that will scan deep into that magnetic scars left in the platters.
You can't really copy that deep info to a image =]
