View Full Version : AIG's Deathwish.
Seriously they have some balls (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/20/business/20aig.html?_r=1).
Don't bit the hand that feeds you.
In the Other Thread (http://forum.pcstats.com/showthread.php?t=65992) we can see that people do want to throw AIG into the bonfire.
They're really pushing the envelope this time. Really.
They're basically a failed corporations, which are, in other country, will be called 'nationalized'. Americans call it bailout.
The difference? In 'Nationalized' company, the government can come and kick serious arse :D
Bailout? It's a good way to get free cash for the company. Just threaten to go bankrupt and thousand of people went jobless - and the government handout the cash :fighty:
Who will benefit from all these? The Lawyers, of course :teeth::teeth:

I guess im the only one in the whole forum that supports these bonuses, that is only because they were already in signed Ks.

So why should I still give a sh1t? That's the taxpayers money they're paying the bonuses with, it's not my problem what they signed, my problem is that they fix this mess.

the problem is that if the govt blocks any bonuses, or taxes bonuses above 250K, who is going to want to go work at AIG if they have talent? They will go to a firm that is not under such restrictions. So blocking bonuses puts AIG at a competitive disadvantage versus other firms.

Frankly, I think your rationale behind them still receiving bonuses because of previously-agreed-upon contract provisions is spot on, and I don't think the media has mentioned this at all.
I just don't care enough about the issue as a whole to chime in.

The bonuses compared to the amount that was given to AIG is peanuts. What bothers me is that the Democrats earlier said that this was a Bush problem, but now it comes out in the wash that Senator Dodd wrote the language to give the bonuses. What hypocrisy!
Now most want Sec Tres Geithner's head ... because he should have pushed harder, but he really didn't know anything at all ... pretty much like Obama with his massive spending bill and the debt he has placed this country in ...
I said it earlier, he was going to bring his tax and spend mentality once he got into office. Not even in office for a hundred days and this country is much deeper into debt than ever before. And this wasn't a problem Obama inherited.
This is just the beginning of the end of the United States as we know it!

Gotta love that Trillion dollars out of thin air too, right AK?

Pretty much, but this is what happens when corruption runs amok through the government. Billions going missing in Iraq, trillions being used to bail out failed businesses/the rich and everything being put on the shoulders of the taxpayers who are already suffering as is. The fun part is that the real sh!t storms haven't even started yet, we're just pushing the inevitable right now.

That's why I am glad I live where I do ... I have plenty of ammo, been stocking up on extra freeze-dried food, and I am looking into a bulk fuel storage on the new property. Need to take of business when it happens ... :thumb:
