I am having a problem with certificates since trying to uninstall CA Security Suite. I tried to uninstall CA Security Suite and everything uninstalled but the Firewall. I went to the CA Support site, and they have an Uninstall application that runs over a software bridge.

When I tried to uninstall CA using their software bridge, it failed complaining about an invalid certificate. I attempted to Restore the computer to a point I created before I did anything, (my thought was to restore it then use the software bridge to uninstall CA). The Restore would not work, and none of the other restore points would work.

Questions:

1. Is there any tried and true methods to fix certificates? I looked thru the Microsoft guide, and everything they tell me should be there is there. I am worried that something is out of sequence or something.

2. Restore points - the restore point I created before doing anything to this computer does not show up, and the system will not restore to any of the other points.

System is a Compaq Presario running XP Home / SP1.

You probably should of been running SP2 at least before installing that at all. I doubt it works properly with SP1.

And well the requirements even say so:
Minimum Service Pack required: Windows 2000 w/SP4+UPDATE ROLLUP 1, XP Home/Pro/Media Center w/ SP2+

Not really sure how to fix it though.

Thanks, you're probably right jdrom17, I was trying to disinfect it, but had to remove CA first. I am doing a recovery now since I was able to back up all the data.
