Well I've upgraded to the latest leaked build. As with all the other builds, this is also labeled as RC-Escrow. Basically meaning it's pre-RC. MS already has moved to 7080 apparently, so this most likely isn't going to be RC, but its close none the less.
Seems to be running fine, so did 7057 which I was previously using all last week. On a whole, I find 7 to be quite a bit quicker than Vista, especially with network file transfers. In Vista it always slugged down to like 10MB/s, though in 7 I can keep up 30-50MB/s to my server. But just on a whole, everything seems faster. Things open faster, stuff completes quicker.
Catalyst 9.4s are a bit quirky though 9.3s worked fine. I think ATI just rushed them out since they are a week or 2 earlier than normal.
I definitely like how things are progressing, and it looks like Windows 7 will end up being a good OS which follows MS's pattern of good/bad OSes. We had 98 (good), then ME (bad), then XP (good), then Vista (mediocre) and now 7 (should be good).
I'm really waiting for Firefox to gain Areo peek support like IE8 does. Once I can see all my tabs easily when Firefox is minimized, Windows 7 is golden :thumb:

Oh and I also combine my 32bit and 64bit together into a single installer, so I can install either or at will. Comes in handy when I decide to update my brother's laptop (only 2GB RAM so why run x64), or if I want to try it on my mom's netbook.

Nice. How exactly did you combine the installs? That's a really good idea.

Then we do have something to look forward to. I'm looking forward this sitting on the store shelves.

Basically this procedure, works the same since Windows 7 basically uses the same installer/format of Vista.

Interesting. I was curious as to the editions.
Windows 7 will be released in six editions, although only two of them, the Home Premium and Professional editions, will be most emphasized. The names given to them will be the same as in Windows Vista, except for the Business edition which will become Windows 7 Professional.
Only Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate editions will be available at retail stores and through most OEMs. Home Basic will only be available to emerging markets, Enterprise only through Volume Licensing and Starter only to selected OEMs. Microsoft has yet to announce the pricing for the editions.

lol you don't need to know my computer name :p
And you definitely don't need to see my Product ID though it is from a public Beta key so that's not the end of the world.
Also as per the editions, I heard they are going to be stripped of various programs and you can buy them as "addons". Don't know if thats true or not.

Any noticable differences between 7057 and 7077? I will be installing 7077 today when I've got the free time.

Not really, other than that I don't see winmain and what not in the build label. Also there was some "unnamed" shortcuts in Start Menu which are fixed now. They were just the actual exe name, no "pretty" name.

From what I've ready Microsoft is getting pretty close to the RC, so there shouldn't be many additional changes. I'd be nice if they'd hurry up and get the RC out so I can install it on my main rig. I really like the OS and would use it 24/7 if I knew I wouldn't be reformating for the final release shortly.

Yeah I hear ya. Rumour has it RC will be build 7100 but who knows. They keep putting out more and more builds. 7077 is supposed to be pretty damn close to RC though.
