It's a ticking time bomb. (no pun intended)
Bright days ahead. As much as I really do hate the hypocrisy and arrogance in our "we've got nukes, you can't have any" stance, NK is rather concerning. The dictator has quite a history, and I wouldn't exactly call it a particularly stable nation...
Obama calls for total nuclear disarmament (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/politics/obama-calls-for-total-nuclear-disarmament-1663467.html)
At least there is one thing Obama's said recently that I'm happy with, and I also believe he may actually implement the first steps of, since that would be in his interests too, and the first steps in disarmament (minor reductions in stockpiles) are always relatively painless. The further we get to disarmament as western nations, the less incentive there is for other non-nuclear countries to further their enrichment processes towards nuclear weaponry :thumb:

I'm not so sure about that. If I were an uppity little dictator who wanted to bring down the West, and if I knew that there were no ICBMs to worry about, I just might not be as apprehensive about picking off a city or two - especially if it's part of my culture to not care what the international community thinks.
I'm all for nuclear arms reduction. I fully believe that nuclear arms elimination is a pipe dream, though.

I hear you. It's a delicate issue. I mean, for all intents and purposes, a few nukes is almost as good as a few hundred, so reduction doesn't mean all that much. And in realistic terms, I think it's unlikely that the main nuclear nations would (in all reality) fully eliminate all their nukes. Even if it were agreed, in secret at least, some would probably remain.
Like people say, once nukes became a reality, the world changed...
So, whilst we still have nukes, other nations will feel obliged to pursue nuclear weapons tech. for a "nuclear deterrent" like we have. Total elimination would really require every nuclear nation's involvement, and very stringent checks. Will it ever happen
There won't be war. Why? North Korea has no oil :p
That's what we here in Asia are thinking. If America really cares about WMD, they would have nailed North Korea before mowing Saddam Hussein :p

Good point. No oil. No interest.
What do you gain from bytch slappin a little country that has nothing to offer. No spoils.
