Try the Dallas test server. I've found that every test server in Florida sucks.

Very small company, though all Canadian :thumb: No outsourced tech support either.

They just use Bell's lines though so I still have to deal with Bell's sh*t throttling.

Complain the matters to your ISP.

In these bad economic climate, it ain't wise to piss off existing client and drove them to move onto the competition. So they would've listened to your complains

You get 3G in Alaska? Cause that would probably even be faster :p

You should get internet via satellite. All you need is a clear view of the southern sky and hope like hell it never rains, or snows. ;)

I won't go satellite because of those two reasons. I just tried that speed test because I wanted to see what it would record. I actually get closer to 66KB a sec download/uploads ... with overhead, that's close to the rated speed I am supposed to get on the DSL. 512/512kbs is what I am subscribed for.

But it's still shyty ... :(

GCI communications is the biggest cable provider in Alaska, but they are not in Tok. Someday they might get here, but I won't hold my breath. :curse:

Satellite kind of sucks from what I heard. Like if you're downloading a 1 gig file and you reach your cap at the 900 mb mark, it will stop and you basically lost all that data (assuming you're not doing it via torrent).

Kind of sucks if you're watching sh!t on HULU.

Can't you pull a DSL line from russia? With that, you'll get access to most p0rn sites with lowest latency (and i'm ain't kidding).

Sarah Palin could see russia from her crib, it ain't that hard to pull a line from there, ain't it?

Why does everyone use the Dallas server?

AKHandyman

That's a good question ... could it be that everyone wants to see how fast "you could be" with a good modem/router? :D

Laugh it up you ole coot.;)

I'm considering shelling out major dough to have a state of the art system installed in my house.
So, does anyone have any extra cash laying around?http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e155/Comixion/emoticons/help.gif
I figure if each one of you f00s chip in about $100-$200 each I can get me a network going.
Have a garage sale, sell your old HW, or just out of the kindness of your hearts, which would be a task in itself.
Sound like a plan?
Please make all checks payable to yours truly. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e155/Comixion/emoticons/beer.gif
