    Default down to the wire

    well since just about nobody responded to my build it thread here's what i have decided on so far for this friday's ordering of parts:

    cpu: AMD64 3400+(gauranteed 2.4ghz with room for more)
    hsf: Thermalright XP 120(might still go for the Zalman CNPS7000A-CU)
    mobo: DFI Lan Party UT 250gb
    video: Gainward 6800gt Golden Sample(for that utra overclocking goodhess
    dvd burner: Optorite DD1205(they make drives for Sony)
    floppy: Sony
    case: Coolermaster CM Stacker

    the rest i'm transfering from the old comp. any suggestions on improvement. can't go beyond this budget here.

    the dvdburner i would buy is NEC ND-3500A
    because i recall some of the early sony had media compatiblity issues
    and the nec does dvd+ and - and duallayer and it's cheap and i read some reviews where it rocks
    and it comes with different colour frontpanel

    the floppy i would get what ever had the right frontpanel colour brand dont mean much in the floppy department anymore imho

    case is always a matter of taste and one cant really discuss it
    i cant use a skeleton arm with that!<BR>p.s. i fight crime for beer <BR>hhhmm ok i may be a jerk but i'm a jedi jerk like my father was before me :P

    sounds good but id get a lite on dvd burner but thats not really important
    workin on a deal for a sweet rig...ill get back atcha ina week or so

    That's an awsome system there Omga. Those Gainward 6800 GT Golden Sample cards are awfully hard to get ahold of. I've been looking for a while now.

    i just bought a chaintech geforce fx5900xt, and its a lot better than my gf3ti200 i had (lol). anyways, i think i'll be upgrading again next year sometime to the 64 and pcie (if they can get their butts in gear).

    i have been using liteon for years, and i've never had a problem with their cheaper or more expensive cd drives (owned about 8 in the past 5 years)

    i'll look into those dvd burners. thanks shiz. i'm getting that gainward one way or another. might have to compile a dirty laundry info list on online site owners to get one but i'm getting one.

    if i can't find the gainward 6800gt then which one should i go for? i am going to need something this month you know. can't be waiting for like 2 months for this card. i'm kind of an impatient person when things are coming together.

    is that the second best out for overclocking right now? i'm going to push this new system to the limit's a week after i set it up then back of 5%. everything overclockable will be. i don't really want to substitute but things are looking that way if i want ot order everything on the same day.

    right now it seems that the best 6800gt card out is the gainward golden sample. gaurantieed to go to ultra speed and some people are even getting 440 on the core !!!!1
