    Default Half-Life 2 - Initial Impression

I am a little suprised this thread hasn't been started yet, but I suppose everyone is too busy playing to be bothered.

    Anyway,

HOLY ********! It surpassed my expectations. Everything is there... the graphics, the physics, the environment, the AI. This is truely the best game I have ever experienced on my PC. It's unbeleivable... I can't describe it... you just have experience it.

I am running 1280x1024 resolution with 4xAA and 8xAF and all the other texture stuff set to 'high'. Looks great and runs smooth on my AthlonXP-M 2.4GHz and 6800GT (stock).

My only gripe is the retail package is kind of disappointing. For $59 I got a box, 5 CDs in paper sleeves and a quick reference card. This is very minor I know, but I like when you get some goodies too look at while waiting for the game to install (which took a while). A jewel case for the CDs and some form of little users guide booklet would have left a better impression on me. GTA:VC has always stood out as a nice package with the tourist guide book and map to oggle at while the game installs.

This game is beatiful, awesome, and diffentily kicks Doom 3's arse!! The thing tht is so great about this game is alot of people I know are not going to have to go out and get the best card, processor, etc. I haven't seen it yet on a low end card but I think I might buy another copy for my wife's PC just too see how it looks on her IGP 9100 Pro board. Excellent game!

A little off topic, I know, but can someone bring me up to speed on where Half Life 2 starts off? I never played the original Half Life (that was before I got into PC's), so I don't know anything about the story line.

The semester is almost over at school, so I'll finally start to have some time to begin gaming. HL2 is looking like the game of choice so far. That should hold me over until UT2k5.

I love this game. I paid only 55 bucks, but I think it should have came with jewel cases and a book or map. It rocks, but i hate those load times. I love making the combine overwatch pissed though. I got killed by a train so ya.

lol i had all day, and the reason i had all day was because some dip******** decides he was going to miss his turn or something like that, breaks like madd on a crowded street where ppl go 45 mph, at an intersection, during a green light, wile its raining like madd, and the ppl behind him are going down hill... i had a jolly car accident today, hence the free time
