    Default which one?

ocz booster or ocz powerstream 420w psu? my aspire 500w sit's at 11.64v on the 12v rail and from what i understand the booster takes it's power from that exact rail which'll probably affect my overall o/c badly. considering that the 12v rail also supports my vid card too. on the other hand i can get some serious fsb out of my ram. then there's the psu that allows upping the 3 rails seperately. i could level the 12v rail or up it and still be able to raise that 3.3v rail to something like 3.8v. $55 difference. please elaborate on your reason for voting for one or the other. i am buying one or the other between wednsday and friday. depending on the response to this thread. thanks fellas.

I'd definitely go with a new PSU first as well.

Hey shiz what's the link to your auction?
    Woo it's always fun

I would say that the power supply is going to be best first.. Stablity it everything when you want something to go that little bit faster

well looks like the psu then. i just needed some other people to confirm and ease this itch to get the booster. just found out this morning after some surfing that the ocz powerstream all allows these highths in overvoltage:
    12v: 10.8-13.2v
    5v: 4.8v-5.5v
    3.3v: 2.8v-3.8v

who needs a booster? i can get the 3.6v to the dimms i wanted, raise the 12v to 12.2v and the 5v to 5.2v. stuff is rock solid to moving only like .03v under load on a overclocked setup. i just needed something to justify the extra $55. now to convince the wife that this is for the greater good of mankind.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the PSU voltages separate from the voltages set in the BIOS? I'm guessing that raising the 3.3v rail would just send more voltage to the components that run off that rail, but since the components are only drawing a certain amount of power, set in the BIOS, it would fry the components. Anyways, buy the PSU and the Booster. The Powerstream has all I could have asked for except the insanely weak fans. I'm getting mine RMAed right now though. I put in the SP-97 and it must have caused a short, I don't know how, and the PSU died Don't let this deter you from getting the PSU though. It's awesome.

i have a beta bios that allows me to select up to 4v for the dimm. so i could technically ask for more than the psu could even supply after upping the voltage to that rail to it's max. i would have to volt mod the psu to get what my board can ask for. the slight extra voltage on the other rails would just make me feel comfortable that everything was getting it's fair supply and not being shorted by an 11.64v rail. i do have a 6800gt to feed. oh and it has been advised to me to have at least .1-.15v more than what you want to send to dimm available from the psu.
