How can we get more people folding???

I am not too sure how well a Opteron 175 will run in a folding rig + server. i remember in the first iteration of GPU client, i ran it on my 8800gt and a X2 3800+. and the client used quite a bit of CPU processing power. i am not sure how optimized they are in regard to CPU resources in the newer clients now. Now that i am running on quads, CPU usage all seem very little. But i don't know if that's because they optimized the later GPU clients or because now that my quads are more powerful.

i would probably just do a test run on the Op 175 with your 9800GTX. see how it taxes on your CPU. because if that's also gonna be your server rig at the same time. you woun't want the CPU to be taxed 80% all the time. but i am willing to guess that Stanford have probably optimized the client.

Slumpy is right, i wouldn't bother with any of the CPU clients. if you really want to sqeeze every last drop out of a system i would install multiple Nvidia cards, multiple "GPU" clients, and 1 SMP CPU client. that way not only you're folding with two cards, you're also folding with the rest of the CPU cycles. it should be interesting to see what kind of monster power supply will stand up to that kind of test

Make it a priority there Phill, once you get one of your uber rigs going. I am looking in building a server/folding rig that will help contribute to PCStats Folding@Home team.

i see that AK is bumping up the chart. are you finally using the GPU client? i just advanced another place, i should take #12 probably by week end if not early next week. i was once top 6 (when folding first started lol). hope i can get there again.

Still using the cpu instance (4 of them ... ) I have ordered another nvidia 9800GTX+ in hopes of resurrecting an old ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe board with an Opteron 175 for my folding/server rig. Then watch the numbers climb!

At least this is a bright moment for me ... the last two weeks have been hell. I'll have to post a thread over in the Cafe about it ... it's not been pretty

Yeah, I've recently add an EVGA 570 SC to my mix. A few weeks ago, I noticed PCstats user Assimilator87 (F@H Michael Lee) was a within a week of surpassing my total point count. So, to maintain my position at the top of PCStats team, I bought a new card. Besides, its been like 3 years since I bought a new one, so might as well use it for gaming as well.
