Hey, after using it for about 2 years I noticed a feature that Microsoft added to Excel 2000 - Excel 2000 is a buggy and broken piece of crap and not only does it screw up my workbooks but it likes to crash computers on a regular basis. And you can't plot multiple series on a logarithmic or semi-logarithmic graph, and the logarithmic fit line is curved the same whether the graph is linear/cartesian or logarithmic. Headers and footers have been updated to be restricted to 255 characters, thereby destroying longer headers and footers that you created with previous software. Too many rows and the workbook dies. Too many graphs and the workbook dies. Graphs die without warning or reason. Backwards compatibility with Office 97 is not backwards compatible with Office 97. All of these features were missing from Office 95 and Office 97.

What's your take on this? Excel 2000 has at this point cost me thousands of dollars in lost productivity due to workbooks with hundreds or hours invested in them deciding to fall apart.

Anybody else notice what a POS it is? I can't afford to use Excel 2000 any longer. Where any of these issues addressed in subsequent Office XP?

Thanks!

Sorry man, I don't have much experience with Excel myself...

My mom hasn't had many problems with Excel XP, but then again she doesn't really use it taht much either. have you updated your Office 2k with any service packs?

Not on most of these machines and not on any for at least a year. That's a good point, thanks. But when ever I find something on the MS knowledge base the solution is always "yes we realize this is an issue, tough." I've gotten responses from MS tech support on two of the more serious issues and the responses were something along the lines of "yes we are aware of this issue and recommend that you not try to do that" which isn't much help either.

Still, good point, let me see if there is an update and try it on perhaps one or two machines and see it helps any of the issues. Thanks!

Also, I'd appreciate the input of any Office XP Excel "power users" such as engineers, mathematicians, statisticians and related.
