Frozen frames

Does anyone know how to fix frozen frames in divx videos? I'm using divx 5.0.2. I have divx anti-freeze installed, but it doesn't do anything. I've also used a program that is supposed to detect and repair such frames, but that didn't do anything either.

What happens is a frame will get stuck and the sound will continue to play. I can scan through the file, and I can hear the sound scans normally, but that frame stays until I restart the player. It happens no matter what player I'm using.

I reckon you should try a number of things.

1) You should download a util called divfix which is supposeed to allow you to watch half downloaded divx files but this may fix it.

2) You could download 'nimo codec pack' which is a program which has loads of divx stuff and may fix it

3) Try using another divx player, if you are using windows media player it will be crap, try using either the program which comes with divx or a third party application

Thanks Iceman, but I was just about to delete this post. I turned off a setting called "smooth playback" and the problem just went away... ? I wonder why.

Divx is the best
