Default Double ZIP a file???!!!

ok I have dled this file that is 734mb and well the only cd's I got are a maximum of 700mb. No problem though, as I zipped the file using WinZip and got it down to 706mb, but im still over 6mb... Im gonna see if it'll burn even though its over, but if it doesnt here is what I need to know:

What program can I use to zip the current zip file even smaller? I tried Winace, but when I right-clicked on the file to re-zip it, it wouldnt

Zip files have smelly compression. You should try to RAR or ACE it first, and then zip it to squeeze out a couple more MB's.
Most CD-R's have a 703 limit even though they say 700, so you only need 3 more to go. Or you could try an overburn.

Polykranopalous just use Nero and overburn your 700 MB CD... I do it all the time no problems!

How much do you overburn Colin?

The last CDRW Drive I had was a TEAC 12x10x32x and I used it all the time to burn and occasionally overburn. One day I just died on me. Windows couldn't find it, BIOS couldn't find it, it wouldn't even power on. Sometimes I wonder if it was that overburning... or maybe it was just too old. Haha.

On most CDs 710 to 715 should be ok. It's trial and error.

you have to enable overburning in 'Preferences'.

what exactly is this file you are burning ... if its like a movie or something .. just cut it in half with a vid editing program and use two cd's ... i wouldnt advice overburning ... it kills the burner much faster. and if you are not lucky it may screw your burner up the first time your try it. what over burning does is it makes it think you are using a 90minute cd. and the laser can easily go off track of the cd and mess up internal components.

In Nero make sure you have the 'Disk at Once' option not 'Track at Once' otherwise you won't be able to overburn.
