CHKDSK Log File?

I wanted to run CHKDSK from the command prompt but it tells me that the volume is in use and asks me if I would like to schedule a scan for the next time I reboot. I select yes and after the WinXP loading screen it starts to check for errors. However, as some of you might know, this takes quite a while so I left it running and went to make some food. As you also might know, when it's finished it automatically keeps going to load Windows without even pausing to let you read the results. When I came back I had just missed the report screen. Man, I was so peeved. I did a search for 'chkdsk' and found nothing, it wouldn't even find the .exe file which is rather strange. Then I did a search for 'log' and all the log files it found didn't have anything to do with CHKDSK. If you run CHKDSK from the command prompt with /L it tells you how big the log file is, but not where it is. At least I can assume that there is a log file that exists somewhere.

Where does CHKDSK leave the log file?

In XP, open the Control Panel, double click on "Adminstrative Tools", double click on the "Event Viewer" icon, then click on "Application". In the "Source" column, look for the "Winlogon" item. Double click it and you should see the results of your Chkdsk.
