Default Java HELP!

i am having problems with my java applets. i just bought a new hard drive and i reinstalled windows xp and now i cant get my java applets to work. before they worked fine but now i just get nothing. i tried reformating again and with out updating windows with that sp1 pack, i couldnt get the applets to work, then i updated it completely and still nothing. i looked in the settings to see if my scripts were enabled and they are. what am i doing wrong??!?!?!

i dont know if this is important but my comp specs are:

AMD xp 2400
Windows XP Home
GeForce 4 Ti 4200
120GB Maxtor Hard Drive 4mb cache
80GB IBM Deskstar 4mb cache
Kingston Eithernet Card
SoundBlaster Audigy 2 Platnium
Artec 48x12x48 Burner
Creative 52x CD

New versions of SP1 does NOT include Java support anymore. The original SP1 did have Java support.

Microsoft Moves Forward with Removal of Java from Products
On February 3, 2003, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals granted a stay pending appeal of a preliminary injunction order entered by the District Court in Baltimore that required Microsoft to distribute Sun's Java runtime environment (JRE) with the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system and to halt "separate" distribution of the Microsoft virtual machine (Microsoft VM).
